FEMtech is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation, and Technology (BMVIT) in Austria, which aims to support women in research and technology and to create equal opportunities in industrial and non-university research. Therefore the BMVIT raises awareness and sensibility for women, make them visible and promote their careers in research and technology.

With FEMtech research projects, the gender sensitivity in concrete research and development projects is to be increased. Funding is provided for projects that implement knowledge for the gender-sensitive development of products and technologies.

The handbook »Gender in the Research and Technology Programs of the bmvit« shows in a clear and practical way how measures in terms of gender mainstreaming can be realized within the RTD programs. The examples, guides, and checklists provide concrete instructions for implementation.
